Megawati menempatkan tanggung jawab pada anggota partai
Tiga hari setelah pengumuman bahwa “jokowi” widodo (PDI-P) akan kandidat capres 9 juli mendatang. Ketua umum partai Megawati Soekarnoputri memberikan pidato di hari senin membahas tentang pertanggung jawaban anggota partai.
 Meskipun Megawati tegas seperti yang tertulis dideklarasi nominasi Jokowi, yang mana dibacakan oleh anak perempuannya, Puan Maharani dihari jum’at, dia berpidato didepan ribuan anggota partai.
“Saya sudah berikan apa yang kalian tanyakan, kalian selalu meminta agar Jokowi dicalonkan sebagai kandidat presiden. Saya saya sudah memberikannya,”Megawati berkata didepan semua orang pada hari Senin di Stadium olahraga Pancasila, Surabaya jawa timur.
Dia memberitahukan kepada seluruh pendukung partai agar bekerja keras untuk kemenangan  Jokowi dipemilihan, mereka akan menghitung ulang jika dia kalah. Yang lebih spesifik dia meminta agar anggota lebih aktif dan lebih cermat memonitor poling untuk mencegah kercurangan pada pemilihan didalam partai PDI-P.
Didalam pidatonya, Megawati menekankan peran yang signifikan dari anggota partai dan pendukungnya pemilihan Jokowi yang menjadi pemenang.
“Bagaimana dia dapat menang menjadi presiden jika kalian tidak melakukan sesuatu untuk dia menjadi presiden” kata Megawati.
“Kalian pasti menyalahkannya jika dia kalah dalam pemilihan presiden karena itu, berarti kalian tidak peduli dengan apa yang sudah saya berikan”.
Megawati dan rombongannya yang terdiri dari anggota eksekutif partai tiba disurabaya untuk menyelenggarakan kampanye terbuka hari kedua.
Ini merupakan pidato pertama Megawati sejak kampanye terbuka dimulai pada hari minggu. Ketika Jokowi mengumumkan pencalonan dirinya, saat mengunjungi beberapa bangunan bersejarah dijakarta.
DiSurabaya, Walikota Tri Rismaharini, yang juga anggota PDI-P, bergabung dengan Megawati disaat kunjungannya ke Jawa Timur.
Ketika percakapan berlangsung antara Megawati dan pendukungnya secara formal, penduduk lokal berinteraksi santai dengan Risma, yang mana mereka melambaikan tangan dan tersenyum merespon sambutan hangat dari teriakan yang memanggil “Ibu Risma”.
Ada sebuah kejadian ketika Megawati berhenti ditengah-tengah pidatonya dan bersama-sama dengan anggota eksekutif untuk diam saat azan hingga selesai.
Sebelum sampai dibandara Internasional Juanda, Megawati bertemu dengan ketua partai Nasdem Surya Paloh, yang juga dijadwalkan untuk berpidato dan bertemu dengan pendukung partai di Jawa Timur.
